About this objectBritish halfpenny, minted in 1942. On the obverse (heads), it depicts George VI (1895-1952), King of the United Kingdom, British Dominion and Emperor of India until 1947 and the first head of the Commonwealth from 1936-1947. It also includes the abbreviated Latin phrase: "GEORGVIS VI D: G : BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:" which translates to "George VI by the Grace of God, King of all the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India". On the reverse (tails) side it includes, "HALF PENNY" and the date minted "1942", it also includes The Golden Hinde, Sir Francis Drake's Galleon.
