M·G." which translates to "Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God, Queen of all the Britons Defender of the Faith". On the reverse (tails) side it includes, "HALF PENNY" and the date minted "1959", it also includes The Golden Hinde, Sir Francis Drake's Galleon.
