Name/TitleVictoria, threepence (1861)

About this objectThreepence, minted in 1861. On the obverse (heads), it depicts a "young head" version of an uncrowned Queen Victoria (1819-1901), Queen of the United Kingdom (1837-1901) and Empress of India (1876-1901). Around the portrait, is the Latin abbreviated Text"VICTORIA D G BRITTANIAR REGINA REGINA FIDEI DEFENSATRIX' which translates to " Victoria by the grace of God, Queen of the Brittans, Defender of faith". On the reverse (tails), shows a crown at the top and an oak wreath around the side of the coin. Below the crown, shows a large "3" and in the middle of the three is the minted date.
